Right Before Your Eyes

like my dear friend rebecca, i too rather enjoy overhearing conversations. some call it eavesdropping. but i think that if people are going to have a loudish conversation in a public place, people are, ofcourse, going to listen.

i was on the train. coming home. and there were these two... i guess in a nice way, i would call them bogans. about 40ish, male. the train was fairly empty.
the conversation started with talk of a playstation, advertised in a news paper. there was silence for a little while, and then the guy on the left read out his horoscope.
"this weekend will be one you remember forever". and he commented on it to bogan no* 2.
along the lines of "who knows what could happen this weekend. *female name* could get back with me. she could grant me custody of jack. i could get laid."
the other guy looked at him and scowled. he said "dont tell me you believe in the *swear word*. i mean. get another paper and they will say the exact opposite thing. so who do you believe".
bogan 1 "well ofcourse they say different things. they are different people telling you. i wont argue with you there. i have always looked at *this newspapers one* and its always been spot on. i've read, i read tarot cards. i could read you one time (other bogan makes dissaproving and annoyed noises) okay, or not."
bogan 2 "how can some guy who gets out his crystal ball know..."
bogan 1 " its not a crystal ball. its by how the planets are aligned. i mean. its better than that *insert bad word* guy, God. i mean. what has he done for us?"
bogan 2 "still dont believe it. its stupid."
B1 "ahh, yes, but you gotta believe it to be so opposed to it. do you know what i mean? i mean, if you are opposed to something so much, you gotta believe that its true and real... get what im saying?"
B2 *blank look*
B1 "ahh well. well, you just wait and see when we both die, who is right. when the world does not want your physical presence any more and your spirit goes away, we'll see who is right. i'll be living it up."
B2 "ha ha. i'll be in purgatory."
B1 "boiling you in a pot of *something*".

the conversation stopped for a little while. and then it went onto something else.
pulling into mooroolbark station they both stood up and stood at the door.

B1 "i mean, i'm a very spiritual person..."

and they got off.

overhearing conversations like that are amusing.
