so ive been reading Ezekiel recently, after trying to start it ages ago, but only getting a few chapters in.
im only up to chapter 16 currently, but what i have read is some of the most depressing and horrible stuff i've read, particulary in the bible.
so much suffering, at Gods hand! he is the one causing Israel to suffer.

and then something struck me.

the line repeated constantly in ezekiel is "so that they will know I am God" so words to that effect.
and that got me thinking.

God is a powerful God. he is a jealous God.

he made his chosen people suffer because they continually turned from him, hurt him, forgot him.
thats still something my mind is having a bit of a hard time trying to understand.
this loving God made the people he chose, who he loved, suffer. he persued them with the sword, with famine, with drought.
and all so they would know he is God.

i wonder if the book gets any better. i guess i will have to read it to find out...
