Walking around the truth
church yesterday morning was what i needed to hear. when things like that happen, it makes me chuckle and thank God that he has it all under control.
it was on the woman caught in adultry, found in john 8:1-11.
basically, the sermon was about God being a God of second chances. i spent the majority of the sermon looking through my bible for different passages on forgiveness.
i have been given the chance to "go, and leave your life of sin" (vs 11ish). this has been very relivent in light of some recent happenings. things i dont really wish to disclose here.
the weekend has been hard, and i think i have cried more than i have in a long time. even the smallest thing would set me off, if was about the right thing.
but, things are heading in the right direction now.
anyway. on the way to church yesterday morning, it was such a beautiful time. the sun was shining, the cherry blossoms were in full bloom. the birds were singing and my heart was full of praise for the wonderful creator God who made it all. i prayed. i thanked God for life in general, and the wonderful view around me.
after church, i went down to kelseys house. we walked to lillydale lake, and sat on a hill and talked for a while. kelsey may only be 15 (almost 16!) but, her experiences (growing up in holland to parents who worked with YWAM) have matured her, and grown her closer to God. talking was good, because i was free to be open about how im feeling about God. and the area was there to feel comfortable to do so.
after getting back to kelseys house, eating lunch, i decided to let kels do her homework and walked home.
now, for any of you who have never been to mount evelyn, or never had to walk up burrmingham road, it is steep, and a killer on your legs. kelsey lives at the bottom (pretty much) of it, and i live at the top (well, further than the top actually) of it. it was a pleasant enough walk, and i took it slow. ok, so i actually cheated and walked up half of it, and then took the longer way to my house, through the back streets, but flatter way.
arriving home, i hear from my sister than bec called, inviting me to lunch. it being 2:45 i think, lunch is over, but they are probably still there. so i call, they are (after a confusion as to who was actually on the phone :S) and i walk down the hill to becs house.
we watched syriana. i didnt exactly follow the story 100%, but i got the general gist...
walked back up the hill to church from becs house after the movie. (ana, and geoffie and tim were all there too. was great to see ana again :) quality girl she is...).
had the youth service, "switch". the first one our church was putting on. it went fairly well.
up too late talking to steve, again. but. thats ok.
i have been feeling emotionally drained. i am continuing to remind myself to look to God for my strength.
friends are wonderful things, because they remind you about the things you need to hear. thanks to Bec for reminding me about this fundamental truth about my life. i cannot lose Gods love. and that is very comforting.
"You will lose your baby teeth.
At times, you'll lose your faith in me.
You will lose a lot of things,
But you cannot lose my love.
You may lose your appetite,
Your guiding sense of wrong and right.
You may lose your will to fight,
But you cannot lose my love.
You will lose your confidence.
In times of trial, your common sense.
You may lose your innocence,
But you cannot lose my love.
Many things can be misplaced;
Your very memories be erased.
No matter what the time or space,
You cannot lose my love.
You cannot lose,
You cannot lose,
You cannot lose my love.
(You cannot lose my love - lyrics Sara Groves)"
