Comfort and Strength
i was laying down out in the sun before, and was still and listened to God. too often i forget to do this, and so it seems that, even though i know God is there and he loves me and is watching out for me, i never hear what he has to say. and that makes me miss out on such a huge part of the relationship with Him.
so, i was laying in the sun, and i felt God tell me that he was giving me his strength. that i had the power to resist temptation and the evil one, because he is all powerful. that i just have to ask and he will give me the strength to resist. this was rather comforting. i mean, i knew that before hand, but having God say it to me encourages me more.
i found this verse in my bible again today, after finding it underlined a couple days ago. " [God] comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God." (2 corinthians 1:4)
reading through jeremiah 31, i found these couple of verses which are good to remember.
" I have loved you with an everlasting love;
I have drawn you with loving-kindness."
(jeremiah 31: 3)
" For I will forgive their wickedness
and will remember their sins no more."
(jeremiah 31: 34)
and this verse was stuck in my head last night, after hearing it in a casting crowns song (Praise You In The Storm)
"(1)I lift up my eyes to the hills—
where does my help come from?
(2) My help comes from the LORD,
the Maker of heaven and earth."
(psalm 121: 1-2).
Ive been thinking about that song all day...
