a spirit filled camp

the camp on the weekend was... wonderful to say the least. im not really one to... be in tune with the Spirit, generally, but this weekend even i couldnt help but notice he was present.

a youth group camp, to launch junior youth (years 8-11), to phillip island. cowes infact. i went along as a junior leader, simply because i didnt want to miss out on all the fun, as nearly every single one of the youth went on the camp! which, in itself is an amazing thing...

the leaders each did a testimony at the camp (besides the junior leaders), at each meal, and my gosh, they were incredible. really powerful. some really touched me. towards the end of the camp, a theme of fear seemed to come out. this was made even more evidant by the fact that both gabi and pearl talked about fear on sunday morning for church.

before church sunday morning, some of us went for a walk to the beach. there was a girl, shannon, who didnt really have many friends on the camp, due to there not really being any other females her age that she got on with. she was walking at the back of the group, walking slower than everyone else, due to her being rather short. so, being a leader, it was my job to walk with her and keep up the rear.
at the start i grew really resentful, and wanted her to just hurry up to the others so i could go hang with my friends and play with them. and then, a little something triggered in my mind. if i am here to love people, then how is my resentful attitude loving her? so all i did was a slight thought prayer, asking for ods help to love her how he wants her to be loved. to form a friendship with her, and get to know her.
and i haddnt even noticed it happen until i looked back at the time, and realised that after that my attitude, in fact, was changed! i wanted to be with her, and learn about her. it turned out to be fun, rather than a hassle...

the scene of the beach was wonderful too! it was still, and calm. there were light grey clouds in the sky, and the water reflected that. you could not see the horizon due to the misty fog, and the water was a greeny grey colour, and really clear.

in short, the camp was brilliant! there were a few moments, where i was sad, but that was mainly due to being so tired. i fell asleep in front of a heater in the hall, praying. gabi came and woke me up. and the small group talking time was wonderful. talking with the younger girls, trying to share some of my own life with them, to encourage them, or.. something like that anyway.
and gabi, yet again, re instated my own comment on what i think Gods plan for me is. to love people, to befriend the friendless... ha ha. and even now, when i type that, i get these happy tears fill my eyes. and i cant stop them, and i dont know if i would want to.

and today, i checked my results. it appears that i have, indeed passed everything. i got one pass (60, for psychology), and three credits (73- media comm, 70- for stats, and a high 60's for sociology). now i just have to go to uni to fix my timetable, and get some books.

im working all this week. monday, wednesday, friday. and now i have a cat sitting on my lap.
