Public Transport Talkings
wow. what a long day! i think i spent half of it on public transport! but thats alright, cause i actually like public transport... the people fascinate me. maybe it is a good thing im doing a social science course. lets see if any people watching comes into it.
i wrote a little short story of a woman and her child on the bus, this morning.
"the mother held her child close. she had a haunted look in her eyes. fear. strength. resolve.
the bus wound its way through the back streets, following its normal route, uncaring of the womans situation.
the child looked up at its mother.
"we've lost him now. he'll never find us".
the child was bubbly, chattery and loud.
the mother leant over and pulled her child close and tried to hush it.
she looked around at the other passangers on the bus. no one took any notice, or if they did, they did not show it.
the mother talked quietly to her child, in a rushed tone.
the child grew silent.
her face was weary, with a certian amount of distrust in
it. no smile graced her lips.
they waited until last to leave.
"but i dont want to leave it behind" the child moaned.
the mother held back her tears and kept walking, hand in hand with her child.
caught the bus from my house to ringwood. the train from ringwood to flinders street where i met up with jess (of the yits accountability group variety).
on the train it got full. there was this sad looking guy in the set of seats on the other side of the carriage.
i tried to draw him. it didnt really work.
so i gave up and drew other things.
it got really full on the train, and i was travelling backwards... but that was alright. i was actually sitting down...
sad cute guy got off at richmond. or was it parliment.
anyway. hung around in the city for a couple of hours, one of those in Word. walked and got (semi) lost in melbourne central.
then we decided that we would go back to jess's house in moonee ponds. some where i have never been before. so there goes tick in the "take a different train line" box.
on the train to jess's there was this couple fighting. the chick really looked like she needed a fix. the guy was a bit older and swearing at her. there were two small children. girls.
(oh yeah, and i bought the book 'change the world for 10 bucks'. its pretty good).
got to jess's house and found out travis (who was suppsed to be coming between 4 and 5, and was a contributing factor as to why i went to Jess's house anyway) had already been. so i got the tour of jess's house. (a nice older style one. wooden floors. i like wooden floors. and high ceilings.) and then we msn'd a bit.
through some sms'ing jess convinced trav to come back and meet me... ha ha. that sounds bad doesnt it! oh well. you know what i mean...
like all times where i meet someone new, i get nervous. the thoughts of "will they like me?", "am i what they expected?", "do i look alright?" come to mind. i try and conquor my nerves and act confidant. i dont know if it worked.
once trav and his friend (ben) were in they were only around for 15 or so minutes. but it was good. jess didnt say much. trav said a bit. i was comfortable.
and then i had to go. missed my train, but just caught the next one.
train from moonee ponds to flinders street. missed my lilydale. waited around for a bit. caught the next lilydale, which was late.
there was a guy who was talking really loudly and agressivly to the group of teenage guys he was sitting with. im not sure what was going on. they were at the other end of the carriage.
and there was a guy who was talking on the phone to, maybe, his girlfriend. or someone. something about respecting her beliefs" and wanting to spend time with her, and that she doesnt.
what made me go "whoa!" was when he said something along the lines of "im always busy. even if im just sitting on the train looking out of the window, im busy. everything takes a higher priority to her" that made my ears perk up and want to listen in more. but he got off the next station.
got to lilydale late. it was starting to spit.
and now im online. msn'ing. tired. drinking water cause its warm. talking about things like hugs and marrying random internet guys...
so i'll leave you now.
