All Rise

The Earthsea Quintet, by Ursula le Guin, is one of the fantasy works that i loved during school. First discovered in year 8, then on my book shelf, i really love the complex story, which is just a little different from those other fantasy stories i had read.

so, you would imagine my absolute joy when last year i discovered that Miyazaki-san's son was going to be animating the story, or a portion of the story (as a lot goes on in the five books).


Tales from Earthsea, a Goro Miyazaki film, from Studio Ghibli, is being released for a very very VERY limited season. one cinema in Melbourne, for just over one week.

the Kino Dendy, on Collins street in the city. the movie opens May the 31st, and runs until June the 11th. and i am going to see it!!!

(i discovered the poster for it in Minotaur when i was in the city yesterday.)




(for your information, Miyazaki-san is Hayao Miyazaki, who created Spirited Away, Howls Moving Castle and a whole lot of other beautiful anime, which all happen to be in my possession. Goro Miyazaki is his son, and also an animator at Studio Ghibli.)
