long boring blog...
orientation again today.
waited at the bus stop at the top of my road, and talked for a little while with the oldish lady there. she was from south africa, and has lived in australia for 28 years. another oldish lady walked up and talked with her.
the bus was late. i was sitting in the sun, and getting sunburnt. i was reading Blue Like Jazz (which i succesfully stole off bec, with her permission).
bus to lilydale library stop.
i get off there, and walk 250 meters, around lilydale lake, to my uni. the whole trip takes about 15 minutes.
i was miles too early, again, and my pocket vibrated. a message from Jas.
i sit next to the lake and read. the wind is nice, the sun is hot. i want to stay sitting there all day. i was apprehensive about going to orientation today. dont know why, just was.
i slowly walked up the hill from the lake, and to the place where my group met. there was a chicky who i met yesterday standing there. (shes doing buisness) so i went and talked to her for a bit. then another chicky (liz) joined us. soon there was a small group of us girls, who all went off to the first workshop.
Elif (i think thats her name anyway...) came in half way through. she, and her boyfriend, and his friend, all walked to the station with me yesterday. shes pretty cool.
she is 18. turkish. a muslim. comes from broadmedows. is doing the same course as me, with some of the same lectures. wants to go become a psychologist. glad shes starting a "new life". different uni to her school friends. her boyfriend, pakastani, also goes to the uni. they've been going out for 3 years.
i hung out with her all day, her and her boyfriend, and two of his friends. shes pretty different to me, but we get on.
did this strange games this afternoon. managed to get sufficently burned.
what i kinda like about my uni's orientation is that they put us in groups, of about 40. so we got to know people. aside from the boring-ish workshops...
strange games is what i was talking about. team games. chucking a huge ball around in a circle. doing this thing with a parachute. pretty cool really...
anyway, we (being elif, her bf and stevo, his friend) walked to the station again.
it was 3. full of school kids... gah... my bus was packed. but, when i got on, somewhere to the start of the que, there was this lady who was at my stop this morning.
not the south african lady, the other.
i sat next to her, and started to talk to her. we chatted the whole bus trip home. about random things... my next door neighbours, family, dogs. i then found out that she lives 3 houses up from me.
we get off the bus, i take one of her bags of shopping, and carry it down and into her house. she was thankful. i said, "whats the point in being young and fit and healthy if you cant help other people". her husband died 3 months ago.
anyway. that was pretty cool. i really enjoyed that.
bec phoned just as soon as i got home, and we arranged cafe stuff...
it was suppoosed to be a catch up, but we didnt end up having much time. on account of the post office closing at 5, and me needing to buy stamps.
(beware all i have addresses for. glittery things will be arriving shortly. :P)
ok, this blog is uber boring...
reading blue like jazz... did i mention that already?
thinking about kissing, shouldnt be...
making boundries, when i dont really want to...
im working tomorrow... yay for having money, but sucky at getting up at 1am..
i know i will, based purely on previous experience with Sam and glittery things..
grr.
